Hong Kong is a
modern and busy city.
Seen from the adjacent
mountain top, the highrise
buildings hold not
only residences, but also
the companies fueling
its robust economy. It
is, today, in an awkward
situation. When the British
left the city, the agreement
with the Chinese was
that the city would be a
semi-autonomous entity.
The Beijing government
appoints the governor
and recently has been
attempting inroads
against that agreement
in an effort to take
fullcontrol.
